Anahit Aghabekyan
Armenian Red Cross Society

When did you join the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement?
I have been involved in the Armenian Red Cross Society activities since 1998. The spheres of the activities I carried out in RC were various. I was involved in First Aid Department as first aider. Starting from 2000 I was press responsible in one of our Regional Branches (Kotayk Regional Branch) and developed and printed lots of articles on RC activites, cooperated with local Mass Media in providing video materials and articles on RC implemented activities.

Why did you join?
At school I learnt that the Armenian Red Cross Society conducts First Aid training sessions and decided to attend. Since then I consider myself as an inseparable part of the Red Cross.

Where do you work?
Yerevan, Armenia.

What work do you do?
Presently Disaster Management Regional Rapid Response Team volunteer-member.

What has been your best experience as a volunteer?
All the path I went through in RC was very significant for me. Especially the times I spent being Kotayk regional press responsible. I think it is very important to disseminate the activities you are implementing. In that case people will know about you and the work you do and thus you will have more trust in the public.

What are your hopes for the future?
Our National Society will direct its efforts at enhancing its capacities more and more and will organise manifold activities directed at assisting the different groups of vulnerable people which will be productive and helpful for the beneficiaries.
