The International Federation has a significant amount of pre-positioned stock. Our emergency stock is strategically positioned such as Panama, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Las Palmas. The total stockpiles are sufficient to meet the needs of 300,000 people.
The strategic pre-positioning of emergency supplies allows the International Federation to deliver aid to vulnerable people faster and at a minimum cost. The emergency supplies consist of essential non-food and shelter items, which are critical in meeting the immediate needs of those affected by disaster. These essential items include blankets, plastic sheeting, mosquito nets, hygiene parcels, kitchen sets, jerry cans, buckets and tents, among others.
This stock has been secured in cooperation with partner National Societies and donors such as the Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department of the European Commission (DG ECHO) and the British government’s Department for International Development (DFID).
