International
Federation launches donations website to cope with massive public
desire to help tsunami victims

The
public’s huge desire to donate money to support the Red Cross
Red Crescent’s relief operation to help the victims of the tsunami
that has devastated coastal areas in many countries in Asia and Africa
has prompted the International Federation to create a dedicated website
to handle online donations.
“The sheer volume of traffic on our website has persuaded us
that we need an additional online donation website to respond appropriately
to this immense display of solidarity shown by the public. donate.ifrc.org
will allow people to donate quickly and easily,” said Siân
Bowen, Head of media and public relations at the International Federation.
The new site, donate.ifrc.org, is already operational in English.
Spanish and French versions will be up and running on Thursday 30
December.
Many Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies can also take online
donations for the appeal through their national websites.
The main Federation website, www.ifrc.org, provides detailed material
on what the Federation is doing in response to this emergency.
