Red Cross and Red Crescent statutory meetings 2009

The 17th Session of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies took place in Nairobi, Kenya from 18 November to 21 November 2009.

The General Assembly is the supreme body of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Composed of delegates from all National Societies who are members of the Federation, it meets once every two years and determines the general policy of the organization, elects the President, appoints the Secretary General, takes decisions on the admission and suspension of National Societies, among other important matters. Each member society represented has one vote.

The General Assembly was followed by the Council of Delegates, from 23 November to 25 November 2009.
