The IFRC and its partners have convened two side events at the MDG Summit with a special focus on two key issues: the unfinished business of immunization and home management of malaria.
Side event 1:
Unfinished business: reaching the MDGs with lessons learned from global polio eradication
Co-hosting organizations included the Government of Nigeria, WHO, Rotary International, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, GAVI Alliance and the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
The panel discussion was moderated by Mr Andrew Jack, Financial Times Pharmaceuticals and Health Correspondent.
Side event 2:
Saving Mothers and Children with Malaria Control: Count Down to the MDGs
Participants included RBM Goodwill Ambassador; Kenyan Minister of Public Health and Sanitation; Kenya Red Cross; and Canadian Red Cross.
A keynote address was given by Mrs Ban Soon-taek.
