Psychosocial support in San Martin Jilotepeque

After a traffic incident which has affected 40 families in San Martin Jilotepeque, Chimaltenango, the Guatemalan Red Cross has been carrying out psychosocial support activities to provide assistance to the friends and families of at least 48 people who died.

The accident happened on Monday morning on the road from San Martin Jilotepeque which leads to the departmental capital of Chimaltenango. For reasons yet to be determined, a Sanmartineca Transport bus left the road and plunged into a ravine. The Guatemalan Red Cross sent a team of highly-trained support staff to the region and they will be working over the coming days to ensure the well-being of those affected by the disaster.
