In-pictures - Hurricane Matthew: Relief Reaches Haitians in Need

The Haiti Red Cross Society is reaching storm-ravaged communities in Haiti with critical supplies that were pre-positioned before the hurricane, and is rapidly unloading and deploying new stocks that have arrived in recent days—dispatched by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and its partner societies.  Red Cross teams are distributing water purification tablets, soap, disinfectants and other cleaning and personal hygiene items so that people can protect themselves against cholera and other water-borne diseases and keep their shelters, homes and sanitation facilities clean. They are delivering tarps for emergency shelter and tools to make home repairs.  They are also distributing food, kitchen sets, blankets and mosquito nets.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, with 190 member National Societies. As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, our work is guided by seven fundamental principles; humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
