The skilled work of displaced people has been showcased at a special exhibition in Azerbaijan.

A four-day craft display at the Miniature Centre in the capital city Baku featured exquisite handicrafts made by refugees and internally displaced people.

The exhibition was organised by the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society with help from the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan.

Hundreds admired handwoven stockings, small carpets, toys, traditional head-wears, puppets, saddlebags as well as a variety of other works of art. All money raised from sales of handicrafts will go to help families affected by the recent earthquake in Baku.

"This inspiring exhibition is in line with the mission of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It promotes the image of the National Society and will allow it to raise funds which will be used for humanitarian purposes," said Mr Knut Kaspersen, the Acting Head of International Federation Delegation in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society intends to organize a similar exhibition abroad with the help of other Red Cross Red Crescent Societies, many of which have already expressed interest.
