ASEAN Regional Forum plans cooperation in military response to disasters

IDRL Programme Officer Aishah Amin was asked to present at the ASEAN Regional Forum Disaster Relief Exercise (ARF DiREx) in Manado, an event organized jointly by Government of Indonesia and Japan to identify effective disaster relief coordination mechanisms among ARF members. The IDRL Guidelines were referred to as one of the most important sources for the development of the ARF General Guidelines for Disaster Relief and the ARF Strategic Guidance for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief. As many as 500 government participants and 23 nations including the EU and various ASEAN and UN agencies attended.
