During the national conference on ‘Mega Disasters of Pakistan, Lessons Learnt and Way Forward’ 17-18 May, Minister of Interior-Rehman Malik responded positively to the IFRC input on the importance of IDRL. Space was also provided to raise the need for IDRL with influential stakeholders working on issues of disaster management in the country. Razmi Farook, IFRC Humanitarian Diplomacy Coordinator for Asia Pacific Zone mentioned that recommendations from the IDRL Guidelines be captured in the outcome document and provide a basis for further support to Pakistan Red Crescent Society and the government.
