Regional Seminar on the Role of Customs in Natural Disaster Relief, convened by WCO, OCHA and IFRC, Santo Domingo, 13-15 November 2012

This Seminar aims to bring together relevant experts within the Americas and Caribbean region in order to share experiences with regard to the management of humanitarian operations and to increase awareness among governments and the private sector of the need for national regulations in respect of international relief and assistance operations.

"Pacific Preparedness: Strengthening Laws and Partnerships” – Disaster Law and Humanitarian Diplomacy Workshop in Nadi, Fiji, 22-23 November 2012

This workshop will bring together participants from government and National Red Cross Societies in the Pacific. It will be held by the IFRC in partnership with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.  The workshop follows on from the 43rd Pacific Islands Forum, where Pacific leaders were encouraged to consider the IDRL Guidelines in developing their national policy, institutional and legal frameworks.  The workshop will discuss what assistance IFRC can offer to states in undertaking the legal review process, and how humanitarian diplomacy approaches can strengthen the advocacy and policy outcomes discussed during the workshop.

Expert Model Act meeting, Kuala Lumpur, Second semester 2012

This consultation meeting on the pilot Model Act seeks to bring together more NGOs/INGOs to provide input and share their perspectives on the revised text, as well as parliamentarians and National Societies.

Expert Meeting on the Draft Model Act for International Disaster Assistance, Geneva, 10-11 December 2012

This meeting on the Model Act will gather experts from governments, national societies, humanitarian organisations and academia.  Following this meeting, a revised version of the Model Act will be published.
