Research, tools and publications

Since 2001, the IDRL programme, in cooperation with a number of National Red Cross Red Crescent Societies and other partners, has been studying legal issues in disaster management, with a particular focus on international disaster relief.

The fact sheets present legal frameworks on key issues such as customs, visas, domestic legal personality, etc., in a summarized and easy-to-read manner.

Legal database
The IDRL on-line database makes available national and international legal instruments on disaster management.

Global studies
The IDRL programme has published several major global studies on disaster law.

Country and regional studies
These case studies cover legal issues in international disaster cooperation and other disaster management issues at the national and regional levels.

Working paper series
We accept original papers related to law and legal issues in the management of natural disasters.
