Interactive introduction to IDRL

In December 2010, the IFRC launched an introductory module on international disaster response law (IDRL) on its Learning Platform. This brief introduction is useful for anyone interested in the law of international disaster response, from the merely curious to grizzled experts.

Through dialogue and interactive puzzles, the module painlessly provides an overview of some of the most common legal problems in international disaster relief operations – in less than thirty minutes. It also presents existing international laws and norms in this area, including the IDRL Guidelines.

To get started, simply register for the IFRC E-learning Platform and sign up for the course under the tab for “Disaster Management.” Registration and access are free.

The module is available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Russian.
