Our objectives

The collective focus of the International Federation and its National Societies is on achieving the following four goals:

  • Goal 1: Reduce the number of deaths, injuries and impact from disasters.
  • Goal 2: Reduce the number of deaths, illnesses and impact from diseases and public health emergencies.
  • Goal 3: Increase local community, civil society and Red Cross Red Crescent capacity to address the most urgent situations of vulnerability.
  • Goal 4: Promote respect for diversity and human dignity, and reduce intolerance, discrimination and social exclusion.

To achieve these goals, we need a responsive and focused organization where resources are aligned and efforts can be scaled up when and where most needed. With a focused global organization working together towards four common goals, the International Federation can make a major and significant contribution to the Millennium Development Goals.

Our logistics and procurement services are fundamental to achieving these goals.

Logistics and procurement services
The key objective of our logistics and procurement services is to provide best value for money for humanitarian operations. All humanitarian operations need goods to be:

  • at the right place
  • at the right time
  • in the right quantity
  • of the right quality
  • at the right price

By optimizing our logistics and procurement services, we can ensure that people affected by disaster benefit from:

  • higher quality relief items through the use of qualified suppliers
  • fast delivery of relief items thanks to pre-positioned stocks close to operations
  • relief items that are better matched to their needs as a result of our expertise.
