Director, Asia Pacific
Prior to becoming director of the IFRC Asia Pacific zone, Jagan was the head of zone operations and previously deputy head of zone.
Before joining the Asia Pacific zone, he fulfilled numerous leadership roles in the field with the IFRC including the head of regional delegation for central Asia from 2006 to 2007, senior regional officer in Geneva from 2003 to 2006, regional organizational development delegate for South-East Asia from 2002 to 2003, and head of sub delegation in Montenegro from 2001 to 2002.
Jagan began his career with the Red Cross Red Crescent as a young volunteer in 1982 at the Nepal Red Cross and went on to fulfil a number of successful programme roles with the National Society before joining the IFRC.
Born in Chitawan, Nepal, Jagan holds a university degree in engineering and has certificates on “Leading change and turn-around management” from Business School Lausanne and “Emerging social sector leadership” from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is fluent in Nepalese, English and Hindi, and is conversational in Urdu and Russian.
