Malika Aït-Mohamed Parent

Malika Aït-Mohamed Parent became director of cabinet at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in November 2008 - based in Geneva, Switzerland. In this position, she prepares issues for secretary general decision-making and implementation, as well as supports activities related to governance, statutory meetings and other internal and external bodies.

Malika graduated from the Sorbonne University in Paris, France with a MA in economics, specializing in public and European law. She earned a Master’s degree in management from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and an International Masters Programme in Practising Management from the University Consortium of Lancaster University (UK), McGill University (Canada), Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (India), Kobe Tokyo Universities (Japan) and INSEAD (France).

Malika began her career in Paris as teacher in economics in 1987. She joined the French Red Cross as a volunteer in 1986 where she was later appointed as national youth director, then became head of the national tracing service.

She joined the IFRC secretariat in 1995 as head of the youth department, later becoming head of principles and values department. In 2006, Malika was assigned head of the Middle East and North Africa regional department and then joined the Office of the Secretary General as head of cabinet in early 2007.

In her different functions, Malika has travelled to more than 80 countries around the world where she has trained, coached and supported leaders of local, regional and international networks. Born in Algeria, she speaks French and English.
