Universal humanitarianism: taking on a shared responsibility

What is the common ground between all humanitarian actors, values and practices across cultures? And why is there growing need to engage with "non-traditional" humanitarian actors? Dr Hany El Banna, the founder of The Humanitarian Forum and Islamic Relief,  will elaborate on these questions of universal humanitarianism drawing from his experience of over 30 years of working in many different contexts and with different stakeholders.

Universal humanitarianism is a key issue for The Humanitarian Forum, which is a global network of key humanitarian and development organisations from Muslim donor and recipient countries, the West and the multilateral system. The Forum strives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of aid by addressing identified gaps between humanitarian communities through training, dialogue and cooperation, working internationally and in partner countries like Libya and Yemen.
