The model houses are provided by UNHCR and erected by volunteers from the Red Cross emergency rescue unit. They will have light from solar panels and the team manager Igor Jordanovski says he is investigating the possibility of equipping them with electricity. He says there will be the ability to close the shelters on all four sides during the colder winter months if people are still crossing the border then. Corinne Ambler/IFRC

The Red Cross has 48 Ikea model houses in total and anticipates all will be erected at the two borders within the next few weeks. Corinne Ambler/IFRC
