The 13th Session of the General Assembly
The 13th Session of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies met in Geneva from 7-10 November 2001.

The General Assembly is the supreme body of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Composed of delegates from all National Societies who are members of the Federation, it meets once every two years and determines the general policy of the organization, elects the President, appoints the Secretary General, takes decisions on the admission and suspension of National Societies, among other important matters. Each member Society represented has one vote.

During the 2001 Assembly, two new National Societies were admitted to the Federation, taking the total number of member Societies to 178.
