Welcome to the 12th Session
of the General Assembly
(Geneva, 23-28 October 1999)
The General Assembly is the supreme body of the International Federation
of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Composed of delegates from
the 176 Societies members of the Federation, it determines the general
policy of the organization, elects the President, appoints the Secretary
General, takes decisions on the admission and suspension of National
Societies, among other important matters. Each member Society represented
has one vote.
The General Assembly meets at least once every two years.
