A mother
and child wait to see a nurse, at the Hay Saddam Primary Health
Care centre, in Diwaniya City. Over the past 12 years, the
number of operational primary health care centres in Iraq
has been reduced by half from 1,800 to 900. It is estimated
that 500 of these are in need of rehabilitation.
