Floods in Sudan
August 2007

Nearly one hundred people have been killed since early July in Sudan, where torrential rain has triggered massive flooding. Almost 60,000 houses have been damaged or destroyed and more than 300,000 people have been affected. The river Nile and several seasonal rivers burst their banks flooding 16 of the country’s 26 states. Flooding on this scale has not been seen for twenty years.
