Angola cholera outbreak
June 2006

Angola has been battling with its worst ever cholera epidemic, with over 500 new cases per day reported during the peak of the outbreak. The origin of the epidemic was the capital Luanda where around 90% of the city’s total population lives in slums. The Angolan Red Cross (ARC) staff and volunteers have been working in Luanda since the beginning of the cholera outbreak.
