A massive 8.4 magnitude earthquake –the strongest to hit Indonesia since the one that triggered the devastating 2004 tsunamis – shook the island of Sumatra on Monday 10 September, with tremors felt right around the Indian Ocean. The quake hit near Bengkulu province, destroying more than 5,000 houses.
