Psychosocial support programmes
Indonesia, October 2006

During the initial emergency phase of the tsunami operation, Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) disaster response teams (known locally as Satgana teams) recovered about 45,000 bodies from the mud and debris along Aceh's inundated west coast. Danish Red Cross Psychosocial Support Programme (PSP) delegates offered counselling to help these dedicated volunteers cope with the tragedy and their own experiences.
