Children on Kaafu Dhiffushi Island received bags and pencils from the Canadian Red Cross emphasizing the importance of recycling. The Australian and Canadian Red Cross waste management project also built a waste management centre on the island to encourage communities to separate waste into organics, recyclable materials and other garbage
