Pakistan earthquake
18 months on
April 2007

On 8 October, 2005, a massive earthquake rocked northern Pakistan, killing over 73,000 people and injuring more than 128,000. Over the past 18 months, staff and volunteers from the International Federation and Pakistan Red Crescent have provided assistance to more than 1.1 million people affected by the quake. Here, a Red Crescent health worker holds a young boy in the village of Thalus in the Allai Valley, in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province -- the area hardest hit by the disaster.
