Pakistan earthquake
18 months on
April 2007

Around 3.5 million people were made homeless by the disaster, while an estimated 600,000 rural homes were damaged or destroyed. The government is overseeing the reconstruction of permanent housing but not all survivors have been able to rebuild yet. Between January and March 2007, the International Federation and Pakistan Red Crescent provided 18,000 families with tarpaulins, shelter repair kits, quilts, blankets and shawls as part of a "warm shelter solution" aimed at helping people in remote areas, like Khan Mohammed (pictured), survive another winter.
