Natural
disasters affect poor countries and poor communities disproportionately.
Disasters destroy crucial infrastructure. Livelihoods are
disrupted for many and wiped out for some. It can take people
years to recover from a disaster. Disasters often generate
poverty and make life even harder for those who are already
poor.
