Aleksander
Tolstoluzky, 49 years old, is another patient treated by the
Russian Red Cross. “I realize now how important it is
not to default from the treatment. If I default, not only
will I disappoint the doctors and Elena, my Red Cross nurse,
but I will also damage my health.” The psychosocial
support provided by the Red Cross nurses is essential in making
sure TB patients complete their treatment and avoid the depression
which often follows a TB diagnosis.
