Mekong provinces have been turned to
a vast lake by the floods, where in some cases the water levels have been as much as two metres deep. The water levels, which peaked on September 23, are receding,
but hundreds of thousands of families were affected. The longer-term impact may include food shortages as the waters damaged rice crops.
