Yogyakarta commemoration

The magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck near the ancient Javanese city of Yogyakarta on 27 May 2006, just before 6:00 AM local time. More than 5,700 people were killed and hundreds of thousands of homes were damaged or completely destroyed. In all, more than 1.1 million people were left homeless by the quake.
