Frances hits Florida
With winds of 95mph, Frances hurricane made on Florida’s
east coast knocking out power to at least two million homes,
toppling trees and drenching areas with torrential rains. The
American Red Cross opened 249 shelters throughout the state
providing safe shelter to more than 80,000 people.

Cross support pours into flood-hit Haiti
Some 200,000 people in Gonaïves
were affected by Tropical Storm Jeanne, losing their homes,
belongings or livelihoods. Jeanne left over 1,500 people dead
and 2,600 injured, while more than 1,000 are still unaccounted
for.
