| Advocacy
and meetings: Pan-African Forum on IDRL |
The
Pan-African Forum on IDRL was held in Nairobi on 14-15
May 2007. It was co-convened by the International Federation
and the Kenya Red Cross Society and hosted by the government
of Kenya. The Forum gathered over 115 participants from
the African continent, representing 33 governments (three
of which participated at the level of Deputy Prime-Minister
or Minister), 38 National Red Cross Societies (30 of whom
participated at the level of president, vice-president
or director-general), 2 regional organizations, 14 UN
agencies and global inter-governmental organizations,
4 NGOs and civil society organizations, and 2 universities
to discuss the common legal issues in international disaster
response and potential solutions.
