On
April 23-24, 2007, over 100 participants, representing
20 governments, 28 national Red Cross societies, 6 regional
organizations, 11 UN agencies and global inter-governmental
organizations, 8 NGOs and civil society organizations,
and 4 universities gathered in Panama for the Americas
Forum on International Disaster Response Laws, Rules and
Principles.
The Forum was
co-convened by the International
Federation, the Red
Cross Society of Panama and the Organization
of American States (OAS) and hosted by the Government
of Panama. It was the third of a series of regional
consultations organized by the International Federation
and its partners over the last year.
