The
Asia-Pacific Programme opened its office in Bangkok in
2005. Since that time, it has been studying IDRL issues
in the region as well as producing case studies in various
countries in the region.
The Asia-Pacific Forum on IDRL
took place from 12-14 December 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
It was hosted by the Government of Malaysia and co-convened
by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society and the International
Federation.
This Forum continued the series
of regional consultations which will directly lead to
recommendations to be presented to the 30th International
Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, on how to
concretely improve regulatory frameworks for the facilitation,
coordination, and regulation of international disaster
response.
