The IDRL Project gains international recognition
International recognition and support of the Federation's International Disaster Response Law Project is growing. Most recently the project was given considerable attention at the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) meeting in New York during the session on "Strengthening of the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance: strengthening the coordination of emergency humanitarian assistance of the United Nations".

On 15 July, Encho Gospodinov, International Federation delegate to the UN, delivered a speech as part of the discussion panel on the topic Reaching the vulnerable in the context of complex humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters, highlighting the importance of using IDRL as a tool for ensuring fast and effective access and assistance to the most vulnerable in time of disaster.

The IDRL Project was also acknowledged by the United National Secretary General Kofi Annan in paragraph 23 of his report on Strengthening of the coordination of emergency humanitarian assistance of the United Nations.
