International Federation launches global programme appeal for IDRL

For the first time since its commencement in 2001, the International Federation's work on IDRL will be supported by its own global programme in the 2004 annual appeal.

The annual appeal is the one of the key platforms from which the International Federation can secure funding to support its programmes assist the world's most vulnerable people.

These activities focus on a number of core areas relevant to each geographical region and include: health; disaster management; promoting humanitarian values; organisational development; and coordination and implementation.

The IDRL programme is one of 12 global programmes, which aims to enhance international disaster response efforts through the better understanding, awareness and implementation of existing laws, rules and principles which facilitate international disaster response.

This work will involve a number of activities based on the following:

  • Continuing research efforts to identify and collect the full range of IDRL at the international, regional and national levels.
  • Facilitating improved application of existing IDRL through the development of practical tools for understanding and using IDRL.
  • Advocating for the continued promotion, application, clarification and development of IDRL

The International Federation has appealed for CHF 733,690 to support its work on IDRL.
