December 2007 - European Commission
European Consensus on Humanitarian Aid “subscribes” to IDRL
In this major strategy document on humanitarian aid, the Council and member states of the EU “notes positively the work on International Disaster Response Laws, Rules and Principles (IDRL)” and affirms with regard to IDRL, the Code of Conduct of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and NGOs in Disaster Relief and the Sphere Charter and Minimum Standards, that “the EU subscribes fully to these sets of principles, standards and evaluation criteria.”

UN Secretary General highlights the International Federation’s work in IDRL
In his 2007 report on International cooperation on humanitarian assistance in the field of natural disasters, from relief to development; Mr. Ban Ki-Moon remarks upon the Federation’s extensive consultations with States and humanitarian organizations in the development of the IDRL Guidelines.

UN Secretary General highlights IDRL
H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-Moon paid an official visit to the International Federation on July 6. During his statement, he underlined the importance of the International Federation’s ongoing work to promote adequate national legal preparedness through its IDRL Programme and the Draft IDRL Guidelines. When meeting previously with the International Federation President and Secretary General, the importance of IDRL was also underscored.
June 2007 - Panama
Organisation of American States General Assembly underlines the importance of IDRL
The Organisation of American States General Assembly underlines the importance of IDRL in its Resolution 2314, expressing its commitment to “eliminate obstacles to humanitarian assistance…, with particular emphasis on strengthening the necessary legal frameworks.” The OAS also invites its member states to sign and ratify the Inter-American Convention to Facilitate Disaster Assistance and for those already having done so to designate a national coordinating authority.

Ms. Margareta Wahlström, the UN Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator, OCHA, delivered an official address of support to the participants of the Pan-African Forum on IDRL held in Nairobi on May 14th.
