The Atlantic hurricane season
started on 1 June 2007 and ended on 30 November.
Representatives of all 25 Caribbean
and Central American Red Cross Societies, the International
Federation and other international agencies recently met
in Panama to coordinate disaster response before the storm
season. The Panama meeting focused on analysing
contingency and coordination plans, in anticipation of what
should be a very active season, as predicted.

Partnerships vital in addressing climate change in the Caribbean The global climate is changing, and the Caribbean region is feeling the change. Higher global surface temperatures, sea level rise, changes in rainfall patterns, and higher frequency and intensity of extreme events such as floods, droughts and heat waves all threaten the Caribbean with its many small island states.
