Regional response
Regional and country response
As the HIV/AIDS crisis escalates to shocking levels, the Red
Cross Red Crescent are stepping up programmes across all regions
in the global fight against the disease and the discrimination
faced by people living with HIV/AIDS.
Focusing largely on education and raising awareness, activities
include training in care and prevention, youth peer education
projects and developing anonymous testing centres.
At the regional and country level, programmes are are guided
by what are called Cooperation Agreement Strategies (CAS) that
are developed and negotiated between the host National Society,
sister societies providing support to the host, the ICRC and
other collaborating partners.
International Federation delegations play a leading role in
putting these CAS strategies into action and monitoring the
process as it goes along.
Across the regions, programmes are underway. These updates*
