2 CD-Roms: Reducing vulnerability to HIV
This is the first compilation of resources to support the scale up of the Federation’s HIV response since the IFRC launched its Global Alliance on HIV. The Global Alliance of HIV is leading roll out of the Federation’s decentralised new operating model, and provides a common platform for all Red Cross Red Crescent HIV programming. The materials included on these two CDs are designed to help national societies double the amount of HIV work they are doing by 2010, while also improving the quality of the work.

Publication: The winning formula to beat malaria - second edition
The malaria programmes being implemented by Red Cross Red Crescent national societies will contribute to achieving the Roll Back Malaria 2010 targets: that is , 80 per cent of people at risk from malaria are protected; 80 per cent of malaria patients are diagnosed and treated within one day; the malaria burden is reduced by 50 per cent compared with 2000.

This training package, in harmonization with the community-based health and first aid (CBHFA) approach, aims to fill this gap by involving volunteers more effectively in the management of epidemics. The training is unique because it provides volunteers with a basic understanding of the diseases that can easily turn into epidemics should certain conditions in an environment change.

Hygiene promotion includes many components such as community mobilization and participation, as well as community management of facilities. In this book and CD-Rom the term used to describe these components is "Software". Just like a computer could not be work without computer software, water and sanitation facilities can not be operative without the water and sanitation software elements: community control of the system, ownership of the system, contribution to cost operation and maintenance, gender responsive facilities and behavioural change.
