Epidemic Control for Volunteers - training manual

Publication: Epidemic control for volunteers (1.67 Mb)
This training package, in harmonization with the community-based health and first aid (CBHFA) approach, aims to fill this gap by involving volunteers more effectively in the management of epidemics. The training is unique because it provides volunteers with a basic understanding of the diseases that can easily turn into epidemics should certain conditions in an environment change. The Epidemic Control for Volunteers training manual and accompanying toolkit are intended for at volunteers and their trainers in local branches of National Societies.

Publication/CD-Rom: Food basket calculator. User’s manual and software programme

Water, sanitation and hygiene promotion
The International Publication/CD-Rom: Household water treatment and safe storage in emergencies
This manual is aimed at field personnel and volunteers responding to emergencies involving problems with water quality. The manual presents the various options available to improve household water quality and provides guidance on how to select the right method or product. After an intervention has been chosen, beneficiaries will require training in the use of specific treatment method. This manual contains short fact sheets that can be distributed for use by volunteers in carrying out this training.

The International Publication/CD-Rom: The International Federation software tools for long-term water and sanitation programming
Hygiene promotion includes many components such as community mobilization and participation, as well as community management of facilities. In this book and CD-Rom the term used to describe these components is "Software".  Just like a computer could not be work without computer software, water and sanitation facilities can not be operative without the water and sanitation software elements: community control of the system, ownership of the system, contribution to cost operation and maintenance, gender responsive facilities and behavioural change.
