Asylum Seekers Assistance (Demandeurs d'asile) - Belgian Red Cross

The Belgian Red Cross has eight welcome centres with space for almost 1700 people. The Belgian government uses the centre to house asylum seekers during their application for asylum.

The centres have been running for ten years. There is a strong emphasis placed on a warm welcome, the dignity and harmonious integration of those who stay in the centre plays an essential role in how the centres are run.

The Belgian Red Cross also is involved in tracing activities, using the network of the wider Red Cross Red Crescent Movement to protect the family links of those who are seeking asylum.
