Working partners
Current active agreements at regional and global level:
- Cooperation Framework with the World
Health Organisation, covering collaboration on injury prevention
and management programs.
- Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
the South-East Asia Regional Office of the World Health Organisation
(SEARO): covers public health, non-remunerated blood donation,
health in disaster preparedness and emergency response, and collaboration
in other health related areas. Countries covered are Bangladesh,
Bhutan, DPRK, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri
Lanka, Thailand and Timor-Leste.
- MoU with the Office or the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR): covers development of
guidelines, by IFRC and UNHCR Medical Service in Geneva, on training
and equipment for UNHCR field personnel. It covers as well the
First Aid training course which RC/RC National Societies provide
to UNHCR field staff members and dependents residing with them.
- Cooperation Framework Agreement with
UNHCR: covers the Red Cross and Red Crescent's work in relation
to the 2003 Middle East crisis and the delivery of humanitarian
assistance to conflict-affected populations in Iran, Jordan, Kuwait,
Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey.
- MoU with the International
Olympic Committee (IOC): covers youth, fundamental principles,
volunteers, disaster management, health, HIV/AIDS, social welfare
and development.
- MoU with Pan American Health Organisation
(PAHO): covers health and health related disaster response and
post-disaster situation in the Americas.
- MoU with the Organisation of American
States (OAS): covers disaster manangement, risk/vulnerability
reduction, health and health-related disaster response and post-disaster
situations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- MoU with the Association of Caribbean
States (ACS): covers disaster mamangement, post-natural disaster
rehabilitation, logistics cooperation, capacity-building in the
Caribbean region.
- Joint Letter with United Nations Volunteers
(UNV): anticipates the establishment of expanded collaboration
in the building of an enabling environment for Volunteerism, and
sets priority for work towards shared objectives drawn from Strategy
2010 and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. It gives
high priority to work against HIV/AIDS.
- Revised MoU with the United Nations Population
Fund (UNFPA): covers knowledge and capacity build-up in the fields
of reproductive health, including family planning, sexually transmitted
diseases and to promote awareness.
- Joint letter with United Nations Children’s
Fund (UNICEF): covers health, National Immunization Days, disaster
response, disaster preparedness, cooperation in logistics.
- MoU with United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP): covers disaster response and preparedness to reduce environmental
impact of victims of floods and drought, refugees and internally
displaced people and disasters.
- Letter of Cooperation with the UNICEF
for Latin-America: covers disaster response, cooperation in logistics,
water sanitation, training etc.
- Agreement with the OPEC Fund: covers
prevention and control of the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Asia and
Pacific region.
- Terms of Collaboration with the Joint
United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS): The Federation
acts as a UNAIDS Collaborating Centre till18 March 2006 to promote
reducing stigma and discrimination and volunteers’ mobilisation
at community level.
- MoU with the League of Arab States: covers
areas of educational, cultural, health sanitation and nutritional
cooperation.
- MoU with the Regional Office for the
Eastern Mediterranean Countries of the World Health Organisation
(EMRO): covers health and health related disaster response and
post-disaster situation in the respective region.
