Brining smiles and laughter in times of distress
On the night of 6 April 2009, the communities of the province of Abruzzo and the surrounding region were hit by an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale. As the huge machine of emergency disaster response got into gear, young volunteers of the Italian Red Cross played a large part in the response as part of emergency response teams, however the pionieri section also considered the psychosocial factors that affect survivors of a disaster such as this.
