"We are the future, but above all the present..."

More than half of the volunteers of the RC/RC are youth. Here you can met a handful of young and involved young people, all participants of the International Youth Meeting in Tarragona, Spain, in September 2004.

How long have you been involved in the Red Cross/Red Crescent?
4 years
Why did you join?
While going to school, I did an internship in the Red Cross, and afterwards they offered me a job. Then I also became a volunteer. Being in the Red Cross is also a family thing for me, because my parents are volunteers. It is a great organization to work in, and it gives me a great feeling to be able to do part in this worldwide humanitarian organization.
What is your best Red Cross/Red Crescent experience?
Meeting people from all over the world is great. It reminds me of our common goals. They are the same all over the world, and that gives me new energy.
What are your hopes for our Federation of the future?
I have two major hopes for the future. First of all, that the role of youth is recognized at all levels. Secondly, I hope for a stronger Federation with more cooperation among National Societies and between the National Societies and the Federation.
