"We are the future, but above all the present..."

More than half of the volunteers of the RC/RC are youth. Here you can met a handful of young and involved young people, all participants of the International Youth Meeting in Tarragona, Spain, in September 2004.

How long have you been involved in the Red Cross/Red Crescent?
9 years
Why did you join?
I was still very young, only 14, when I joined. I had friends in the organization and joined to be with them. The interest for the Red Cross came afterwards.
What is your best Red Cross/Red Crescent experience?
I remember very well my first experience in the Red Cross. We were a team of young people who went to the refuge camps to visit. We brought second hand items, and we played football and netball with the young people living in the camp. When we left, there were smiles on their faces. I felt that we really had made a difference in their lives.
What are your hopes for our Federation of the future?
The way I feel about the Federation is that it is the future for the future by the future. The future meaning the youth in the Movement, this expression captures the involvement of the youth. The future is owned by the young people, and the young people are the future.
