Youth at the heart of disaster response
Iraqi Red Crescent

Over 90 per cent of the volunteers in Iraqi Red Crescent Society are youth. They participate in all activities of the National Society. Because of the critical situation in Iraq, the work of the society mainly focuses on disaster preparedness and response.

Thus, we can find youth involved in disaster work all over the country, working closely with the vulnerable people in the north, south, east and west, they are always there to help. They were in the north and south during the floods in February, in the west to give aid during the military operations since the beginning of the conflict, and in the middle of Iraq to give first aid to the pilgrims traveling annually to sacred places.

Youth in Iraq Red Crescent Society have the practical experience in dealing with disasters because they are who working in the field and whom the society depending on. Helping everyone in need, their actions only guided by the need of the human beings, these youth volunteers represent the Movement by working with and through our seven Fundamental Principles.
