To be an inhabitant of a foreign country, a soldier on special mission,
a prisoner of war, a civilian and a humanitarian worker in one day?
Can it be possible?
Through Raid Cross, an open-air role-playing game created by the
French and Belgian Red Cross Societies, many adolescents have done
this, while learning the principles of International Humanitarian
Law. Now, a partnership on the game has been developed, together
with the ICRC, the International Federation and the World Organisation
of Scout Movements, and thousands of scouts will get the chance
to learn about IHL. The seven posts of the game allow the participants
to learn different principles of IHL, such as the distinction between
civilian and military targets, weapon use, the difficulties of giving
humanitarian assistance, the importance of respecting the Red Cross
and Red Crescent emblems, and the necessity of pursuing war criminals.
